On February 4, the world comes together for World Cancer Day—a powerful reminder that every action, big or small, brings us closer to a future without cancer. It's a day to raise awareness, support those affected, and push for better prevention, treatment, and care.

“When the Light Goes Out, Does She Dream Too?” is part of the main exhibition at the Gallery of ARTFul Medicine and explores the experience of a cancer diagnosis through the photography of Vladimir Gheorghiu, accompanied by the warm and insightful guidance of radiation oncologist Dr. Sabina Șucuri. Together, they interviewed a unique cancer survivor: the mother of a young boy, R, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 12, after battling cancer for nearly his entire life. Today, on World Cancer Day, we honor R by opening his tiny virtual exhibition—a collection of drawings he created with love, courage, and unwavering hope throughout his years of treatment. More than just artwork, these pieces reflect the soul of a boy who, despite his own struggle, believed in the power of kindness, the importance of education, and the beauty of a world without barriers. Through this exhibition, R’s dream of traveling lives on, carried by the hearts of those who remember him, inspiring us to stand together with the same strength and compassion he showed every day.
